In association with the State University of New York, College at New Paltz (SUNY/New Paltz), the Bel Canto Institute Summer Program and Youth Division Summer Program will be held in residence in Florence, Italy. Singers and coaches will be chosen by means of audition to participate in the program which will not only encompass the musical aspects of style and tradition, but other essential historical and cultural elements which influenced the entire era. The artists will receive coaching sessions and voice lessons and performance classes on style and tradition. In addition to performance classes, participants will perform in one concert performance in a public venue in Florence. Italian language classes will be taught through La Scuola Leonardo da Vinci and college credit may be obtained through the Language Immersion Institute of SUNY/New Paltz. All participants will be housed with families, double-occupancy rooms, shared baths. Breakfast and dinner will be provided by the host families. All music classes will be held at Il Trillo music school, a five-minute walk from La Scuola Leonardo da Vinci.

COLLEGE CREDIT
Three hours of college credit are available for the Italian study through the Language Immersion Institute of SUNY/New Paltz at an additional cost of $225 ($75 per credit), plus a $45 registration fee, payable directly to the Language Immersion Institute. Check with your college to confirm the acceptance of credit transfer.
ACCOMODATIONS
All participants will be housed with families, double occupancy rooms, shared baths.
AGE LIMIT
15, 16 and 17 years of age.
Youth Division participants must have a cell phone which functions in Italy and is kept on at all times (except in classes). These may be rented inexpensively in Italy.
FEE
The cost of the program is $6,100.
AIRFARE IS NOT INCLUDED.
Transfers to and from airport are NOT included but are available at an additional cost of $90 each way. We recommend taxis.
