Renowned Spanish baritone Juan Pons has sung in all major opera houses, including Vienna State Opera, Covent Garden, the Bastille of Paris, Bavarian State Opera, Hamburg, Munich, Zurich, Liceo in Barcelona, Teatro Real in Madrid, Seville, and opera houses in Rome, Florence, Parma, the Arena di Verona and the Terme di Caracalla. In 1983 Mr. Pons debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in Il Trovatore and since then has appeared there in Rigoletto, Un Ballo in Maschera, La Traviata, Forza del Destino, Nabucco, Andrea Chenier, Sly, I Pagliacci, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Il Tabarro, Lucia di Lammermoor. He has also performed with Chicago Lyric Opera, Dallas Opera, Washington Opera, San Diego and San Fransisco Opera companies. In 1992 he appeared as a special guest at the Opening Ceremony of the Olymics, an event that was televised internationally. Mr. Pons has recorded extensively, including Tosca, La Fanciulla del West, Il Tabarro, and Aroldo with CBS/SONY; La Forza del Destino, Madama Butterfly and Cavalleria Rusticana under the direction of Giuseppe Sinopoli; La Traviata with James Levine; Lucia di Lammermoor and El Gato Montes with Deutsche Grammophon; I Pagliacci with Phillips; Il Tabarro with London/Decca and Falstaff with CBS/SONY. On video-disc he appears in L’Elisir d’Amore with the Metropolitan Opera; La Fanciulla del West, Aida, Gianni Schicchi, and I Pagliacci with Phillips.
